From a young man who says a METRO bus is like a party bus when he and his buddies go to football

re: Satisfied Riders Tell Why They Take METRO

Menil collection:

In this heat, take 700 and catch the 25 at Wheeler. Get off the second stop after Montrose. Walk away fron Richmond towards Alabama. You will walk, er, run into it.

Actually, Tuesday I plan:

1. go to N Shepherd lot.

2. take 108 in.

3. do some banking, and use Tunnel System.

4. board 700.

5. get off at Museum District, and either go to the FAMH or HMNS.

I can do all of this for $1.25 with Q. And within two hour time limit. Not bad. I would NOT go to the park without METRO/Q.

But I do have a suggestion: I would like to pay with Q to get on the Hermann Park RR. Would make life easier. Mary, any possibilities?

Some passengers on the 108 to 1960 have gotten a great ride...on the new MCI HB's. What is going on at FB?

Along with the other documentaries, it makes a great way for the public to experience what goes on to make METRO what it is.

However, all of the programs are running a bit long!

METREAUX just released the May operating data:

METRO fixed-route bus boardings again experienced a huge decline of -20.5% for May 2009 over May 2008.

Bus boardings for first eight months of FY 2009 is -21.67% below the same FY 2008 period. In real

numbers, there were 12,742,900 fewer bus boardings this fiscal year.

The fixed-route bus boardings for the Jan-May 2009 period are -28.33% less than the Jan-Apr 2004 period when the tram service was initiated.

The fixed-route bus boardings have DECLINED each of the past TEN months, -20%, with a net loss of -14,684,400 boardings. There have been bus boarding declines in 12 of the past 15 months.

The tram boardings were again off -4.95% for May 2009, and the estimated tram boardings for the eight months of FY2009 have declined -4.38%.

The tram boardings have DECLINED (-6.94%) each of the past TEN months as compared to the same 10-month period in FY2008. The total loss of tram boardings totals -706,300!!!

My nephew was in town visiting me, and I was going to show him the hospital where I work and then take him to the Museum of Natural Science. However, my car broke down while we were in the middle of the Med Center. Fortunately, once we got the car towed to a mechanic, we were able to jump on the train and see everything we had planned to see. And thank heavens for the train's powerful A/C!
