Thank you, Mr. Sedlak and Mr. Wilson for providing us with today's chat session.

I may have missed it, so I will ask again. When will the signature bus service on Bellaire start?

In addition to Mr. Wilson stating this in the previous, related blog entry, I believe that at least three participants of that entry asked when this service will start.

I'm not asking why an answer to this question was not addressed in this blog entry, I simply want to know when this service is scheduled to start.

Thank you, very much.

This question was asked and answered on the Web chat, and I apologize - I must have inadvertently left it out when I was editing the transcript for the blog. (I had to remove sentences like, "So-and-so left the room" to make it easier to read).

We have not established a launch date for Signature Bus service yet, but it will be in the near future. We have designed a distinctive wrap for these buses, so when you start to see them on the streets, tell us what you think about them.

As soon as I get a start date, I will write about it here. Thank you for your interest and your patience.

But that Airport route has zero ridership and is still rolling??? I watched that route depart/arrive 9 times one day from my office and I only saw the “concierge” and driver talking at the platform. NO ONE boarded the bus.

Would Frank be willing to post the stats on that route? I personally think it’s only there to impress some METRO buddies who fly into the city.

If the fare was a bit cheaper I think airport employees would make more use of the service. You could cut 90% of traffic on the 102 definitely.

People who can afford the service won’t even think about it. The traveling, working class families and airport workers STILL ride the 102.

EVERYDAY I ride I see someone who takes up 3 seat rows for their luggage and family. So people do have a need to get to the airport but they’re not going to pay $15.

But I must say I am happy that METRO has retired those raggedy buses on the 102 and replaced them with newer models. But the fire escapes on some needs to be redone with weather-stripping, they leak when raining.

There is also a need an earlier weekday downtown trip departure for the 102 to arrive downtown before 5am without having to use the 56.

I do appriciate the current services METRO provides.

I am the METRO Stakeholder Affairs Representive for the Uptown light rail corridor. I'm not sure if you are looking for any particular information or just a general update. The alignment and station locations are currently being tweaked, and a revised map will be available on the Metro Solutions Uptown web page in just a few days. As far as the schedule, it's anticipated that early construction activities will begin this year. Please let me know if you would like to be put on the email and mailing list so you can be included in any updates that are sent out.

If you would like contact me I can be reached at dl20@ridemetro.org.

Thanks for your interest in the Uptown project.

Donna Lane
