Show Voter Registration Card and Ride Free
Monday, November 05, 2012 12:25 PM

Vote buttons

Tomorrow is Election Day.

If you haven't voted early, please do so tomorrow. To make it easier for you, METRO is offering free rides on the train and all local buses to help get you to and from the polls.

To ride free, you must have your voter registration card to show to the driver.

How come this has not been advertised? At least post it on Facebook?

We put decals on 700 buses last week, posters on rail platforms on Monday and it's been advertised in the League of Women Voters guide for months. We also issued a press release yesterday.

The blog feeds into Facebook, so this post should also be there.

Go out and vote, and enjoy the free ride! Be sure to bring your voter's registration card.

Why doesn't this apply to the park & ride buses?  I vote, work & have a voters registration card.

Kathy,

The promotion was about riding METRO to your polling location.

Most folks vote around their home on election day, which means they wouldn’t be riding their commuter bus.

People who do live downtown wouldn’t ride a commuter bus to the polling location. There are folks who live along the rail and may ride it to their polling location.

I think METRO has been doing this for a while.  At least in the 1980s it did.
