Eye of stormWe are implementing the following service changes due to Hurricane Ike:

Today, 1 p.m.: We will begin Park & Ride service, with normal rush-hour service.

Friday morning: No Park & Ride service. No Airport Direct service.

Local buses and METRORail will operate on a Sunday schedule until noon.

Friday noon: All METRO service stops.

We will be evaluating the situation and road conditions to determine if we will have bus or METRORail service on Sunday.

What line of buses are opening at 1pm? All bus lines? Or selected bus lines?

Are the HOV lanes still going to open?  I'm about to go to 290 and want to make sure I can get on it with our vanpool.

You're welcome, Mike.  For others, PLEASE look at the METRO Responds URL for updated info about your route(s).  You can also call (if possible) to see if you're route will be running---in the event that it wasn't noted prior.  Good luck on that.

Even I'm not going anywhere tomorrow, I see that my route (the 77 route) will go back to service.

When will the HOV lanes reopen? What uses electricity on these lanes?

Metro should just say we don't have an employee to go unlock the gates on 290 HOV because the lights are working at Northwest, W Little York and Pinemont entrance ramps.  It took an hour and 4o minutes last night to go home & just over an hour this morning to work.  More people will go back to work on Monday so I can only imagine how bad it will be then. This should be a top priorty to get an employee to open the gates manually.  Hey Mary Sit maybe you can go open the gates instead of asking people to send in Ike Metro related photos?

Mary,

Thank you for giving me an update on the HOV status.  Hopefully, power will be restored soon and we can get back to some normalcy.

I was excited to hear about the earlier buses so I could go home and get ready for IKE...so I went to the bustop at 1pm and found out this was for every route BUT MINE. I waited for over 2 hours and watched many many buses going within 5min of my destination but was refused a bus to take me and my fellow commuters to where we needed to be. I usually like Metro but this was just total lack of communication on Metro's part.
