Post-Game Thoughts on First Web Chat
Wednesday, January 16, 2008 3:46 PM
Unlike most corporate Web chats, we did not keep your questions in a holding tank yesterday to review and preselect before answering. Questions came flying in, one after the other, while Frank J. Wilson, our president and CEO, was busy answering the first question.
We are posting a link below to the transcript – cleaned up to remove all the administrative directives (so-and-so left the room; so-and-so entered the room) and to rearrange the questions and answers so that Mr. Wilson’s answers come directly after the questions posed. It will make it much easier for you to read.
At the end of the Q&A, we listed all the other questions that were asked but not answered due to time constraints. I will try to track down the answers and post them on this blog, but please be patient, as some of the experts with the answers are hard to reach.
One of you has asked if our software will support a function where one question appears and the answer after that. I understand from your comments that it was sometimes hard to follow the conversation because Mr. Wilson’s remarks would come after, say, five or six questions had popped up on the screen.
We have a new version of our blog software that we will be working with in the future – and I think it will allow us to moderate the questions so that we can post a question with the appropriate answer immediately below.
Post-game verdict? Very pleased after yesterday’s lunchtime chat because of all the positive comments from you. I’m so glad it worked out and that you learned something new about METRO and had access to the CEO. And thank you for not being mean or snarky!
Someone suggested we conduct a Web chat every Tuesday before the board meeting. We do intend to do these monthly, but I am not sure now what day. So many of our top decision makers’ schedules are so fluid, it may be difficult to pinpoint the same day every month. We will try to get Mr. Wilson in the chat room as often as possible – but as you can appreciate, his schedule is jam-packed. But be assured that the host of each chat will be knowledgeable. We may even try a panel with each co-host an expert in his or her area.
Thanks for all your suggestions – we’re learning, too, and we want to refine this so you’re happy with it.
