Transit Talk: Your Chance to Chat with the CEO
Monday, January 14, 2008 1:19 PM

Logo of our Web chat icon on home pageStarting tomorrow, we are launching monthly lunchtime chats.

Frank J. Wilson, our president and CEO is scheduled to host our first chat on Tuesday, noon to 1 p.m. He will be available to answer your questions on buses, METRORail, or METROSolutions  - our plan to build five light-rail lines.

We plan to conduct monthly chats with top decision makers here at METRO. It's all part of our way of trying to be more open, more accessible and more transparent to the public. We know this is a huge agency, and especially with all the changes happening with the Q Card this month, you probably have a lot of questions.

Starting a live chat is another way we're enhancing a feature of our blog at its one-year anniversary.

So come chat with us. Go to the home page on our Web site and click the "Chat" graphic. If you can't stay the whole hour, drop in and ask a question before you grab lunch tomorrow. See you then!

I'll be busy then.

Can I ask my question now?

Mr. Wilson, will you resign now, or do we need to ratchet up the public scrutiny?

Considering that the only posts to this blog were negative, perhaps Clara thought it appropriate to add an element of professional courtesy (gasp!) to this discussion.

Dear  Mr. Wilson :

I have (3) questions.

1.) Does Metro currently have a "Driver of the

Month" or  "Driver of the Year" program that

would allow riders to vote for their favorite

Metro driver and give the driver some type of

reward/bonus?   One of  the drivers on my

Park & Ride route does an outstanding job

and gives above and beyond service to his

riders, it sure would be nice for him to

receive more that a few "thank you s".

2.) Are there any plans for the "circulator" bus

(#98 Briargate)to connect with the Missouri

City  Park & Ride?  The last time I checked

there were some zone or boundary issues that

prevented the bus from picking up at that

   Park & Ride.

3.) Is there the slightest chance that the Trolley

Cars  will be put in service again ?   I've talked

to various groups of riders who all agree that

the Trolley Cars are really missed and provided

a wide range of service transporting downtown

workers from the Allen Center area  over to

Macy's, Houston Center, and Chinatown.   Now

we only have fond memories.   :(

Thank you for your time and I look forward to

another successful year riding on Metro.

Mr. Wilson

I seems that the HOV lane on I-45 North to the Spring Park & Ride is getting extremely heavy with traffic during rush hours and most of the times, traffic on the freeway is moving faster then us the commuters stock in one of your Metro buses. Are you planning to make any changes to the number of occupant in car to be able to use the HOV lane? ie from 2 passenger to 3.

Thanks

Dear Mr. Wilson,

I have some comments about Metro Solutions.  When you click on Phase 2 Implementation Plan you see where the new Park & Ride Lots are going to be constructed.  I disagree with Metro's plans.  I suggest that the Park & Rides be built at the begening of each HOV lane.  For example Metro plans on making an HOV starting at these locations. Which are the Woodlands,Kingwood,Galvestion,Rosenberg, and I don't see that Metro's planing on building a Park & Ride at these locations.  So, I hope you and your staff consider my conserns and maybe you will change your plans for the new Park & Rides.  I whould like to conclued by thanking you for taking time out of your day to read my comments.

Ask Frank Wilson if he thinks I'm afraid of him.

I'd even arm wrestle him, ON THE TRAM PLATFORM at UH-D, for a charity fund-raiser held on the patio.

I am not sure what facility you are at.. However at Fallbrook, the PCs in the clubroom are where maps can be viewed and printed. (When lowlifes have not stolen the USB to printer cable.)

Assignments are part of the mysterious world of the starters,to view those types of things one must submit to a life of treating your former fellow operators like lesser beings,as you are not quite, but almost management.

Good Luck

David  why would a driver need access to schedules or assignments if you are not assigned to that route? The only reason i would see that anybody would need that information would be to see if the other drivers who are on your specific route are keeping their schedule. You would know the drivers identity also. Is this not the job of your supervisors? Dont all routes come from the same garage? Does first transit run routes with metro? Does the basis of your question mean that the public schedules are not accurate? I am curious why this info is important to a metro driver? :)

I'm out of West and there is no PC in the clubroom, But being on the extraborad my run changes everyday, If we had intranet I could find out what run I have, I can bid on hold-downs, send messages to co-workers and but my name in books for O.T. with out driving to the facility. (Metro is going paperless checks) with  intranet they can save lots of paper

WHAT?!  You're kidding, right?  Even though you're trying NOT to make this a serious betting match here, ummm---my question to you is---why at UH-D?  Couldn't of picked a more suitable place?

It may be late but my two questions to Mr. Wilson would be:

1.  Why must he and METRO have to put up with this kind of......?

2.  Why aren't there going to be artic buses coming to METRO in the near future?  There are certain routes that need artic buses and YES, there are some bus builders who can give us hybrid artic buses.
